The LORAMENDI KEY
CORE system was developed to satisfy the demands
from the automotive industry to produce cylinder blocks
with thin walls, reduced casting weights, better
dimensional accuracy, lower reject rates, and lower
machining costs.
Before the KEY CORE ®
system was implemented, foundries were either setting loose cores
in molds or using foreign objects to join the cores. These
processes, in most cases, were not living up to the latest
requirements for dimensional accuracy and high production rates.
The KEY CORE ®
process is one of the few processes that fulfills all
necessary requirements. The individual crankcase and end
cores are produced using a cold box process, then set in a
fixture and locked together by blowing a KEY-CORE
® in the special KEY-CORE
® Machine using the same cold box
process.
